A very obvious rec for my Mie collection, but Ise Grand Shrine is considered to be one of the most (if not the most) sacred shrine in Japan. This is because the inner shrine (内宮, Naiku) enshrines Amaterasu Omikami or the sun goddess who is considered the ancestor of the imperial family and, in Shinto cosmology, the highest of all the kami (gods).
